Auguinare Reinold Rubiter

In 1570, Auguinare was born to Charles and Elizabeth Reinold, Duke and Duchess of Guise. Upon turning five, it was decided that Auguinare would become a knight and was sent to the royal court at age seven to begin his training. It was here were Auguinare meet his master, Sir Leith Bayard, captain of the royal guard.

The first stage of becoming a knight was to be a page. Auguinare was only one of seven other boys sent to the court for their training, during the early morning hours, he was taught the priest reading, writing and arithmetics, along with military strategy and the etiquettes of nobility. All of the was under the watchful eye of Her Majesty, the Queen.

A knight has to be accomplished when riding a horse, while carrying a shield and lance.

After lunch, the boys would then go outside and practice guiding they're mounts using their knees and feet. Auguinare was sick with the best horse a man could ask for with the worst reputation, a mean spirited animal by the name of Titus. Auguinare lost count of how many times the bratty creature bucked him off, tried to bite him or actually succeeded. Auguinare showed raw natural talent when it came to using mock weapons against the other pages, showing speed and proficiency when it came to his attacks and counters. During late afternoons, Auguinare would work as a stable hand, serve his master at the table and perform menial tasks that were required of him. This continued, day in and day out for the next three years until it was decided that he would become a squire.

Apart from the continued rigorous training demanded of him, Auguinare looked after Sir Leith, cleaning his weapons, polishing his armor, helping the knight dress for battle and hold his shield until required. Auguinare acquired knowledge in music, dance, continued with his progression in cultivating good manners and much to his begrudge, reciting poetry. Auguinare loved hunting, required to do so each night for Sir Leith, in order serve useful meat dishes at the knights table that he was still required to serve at. When it was time to learn falconry, this was when Auguinare met Christofarus and the two became fast friends. As new pages entered the royal court, Auguinare spent a few hours per day training them and dishing out discipline, something that he relished in. During his little free time, Auguinare would take off for a ride to the lake and read, or would take strolls through the gardens after a hard days of training.

His favorite method of training was removing a suspending ring with the tip of his lance. Auguinare's least favorite however was the quintain: a rotating arm with a shield at one end and a weight at the other. The young squire had to hit the shield with his lance at a full gallop and keep riding past without being jostled or the damn arm would swing back around and knock Auguinare off his horse. He obtained many bruises from this, landing hard on his back after being knocked off Titus.

Another important job of a squire was recovering their knight from battle should he be seriously wounded. Auguinare dreaded this the most, having learned of just how many squires died during this, including one belonging to Sir Leith some five or so years ago. When Sir Leith went to fight, he prayed not to be called upon and felt such relief when he was not. But then one.day Auguinare was... After helping his knight dress for battle, Auguinare rode out ahead of Sir Leith on an extra mount, should Sir Leith's own become incapacitated, carrying baggage. The young man was no older than fifteen when he first saw battle. After passing off his master's shield and sword to him, Auguinare rode after his master into the battle itself, just praying for it to be over. His own mount went down however, causing Auguinare to get pinned beneath the animal. After struggling for God knows how long, the young man finally freed himself and then in turn had to secure a new mount while trying avoid swords, arrows and lances in the process.

Feeling a sharp pain entering his shoulder from behind, Auguinare cried out, reaching around to feel what happened, only to find an arrow embedded inside his shoulder. Swearing, the young man stupidly pulled it out and waited for the next rider to come by. When a solider on a grey steed headed in his direction, sword unsheathed, Auguinare knew that it was now or never and timed his leaped just right. He managed to knock down the man, stabbing the arrow that had wounded him in the small gap between the helmet and armor. Auguinare grabbed the reins of the horse as it got up, quickly mounting and rode off to find his master.

Sir Leith had been wounded and without a mount when Auguinare came across him. Without thinking, he grabbed the knights shield to cover the man as Sir Leith mounted up behind him. Auguinare could feel hot blood seeping through his shirt and kicked the sides of the animals as hard as he could before getting them the hell out of there.

It would not be the only battle Auguinare had to accompany his knight on and continued to do so, more often then not as he became a favorite of Sir Leith's after the first for Auguinare had saved his life. The more battles he rode into, the more confident Auguinare became, aiding his master, not just with extraction but also fighting alongside the man. This lifestyle continued until Auguinare turned twenty-one when he was knighted himself.

The day prior to the knighting, Auguinare bathed and shaved before visiting Christofarus and the boys family. Overnight, the young man spent his time in vigil within the royal courts chapel, keeping his sword rested on the altar. He spent his time contemplating his fortune, knowing how so many others would kill to be in his boots, and pondered the risks of life or limp yet to be faced.

When morning came, Auguinare was dressed by Sir Leith and Sir Arthur in a white tunic and belt to symbolise purity and brown stocking to represent the earth in which one day Auguinare would return and a red cloak to represent the blood that he was ready to spill for his sovereign and church. His ceremony was held within the royal court as a part of a larger celebration, the Prince's wedding. He was gifted with gilded spurs and Auguinare had his sword returned to him, now blessed by the priest with the proviso that he would always protect the poor and the weak. The blade had two cutting edges, one to represent justice, and the other to represent chivalry.

Then before the witnesses, literally everyone in the castle, apart from servants, Auguinare knelt before Sir Leith, keeping his head bowed and was given a 'heavy' blow to the neck, serving as a reminder that this was the last one he should take without retaliation and to remind him of his obligations and moral duty to not disgrace his former master as Sir Leith was putting his own reputation on the line. After giving an oath of homage to his sovereign, Auguinare was dubbed a knight. Sir Leith gifted the new knight with his very own horse, a large black stallion named Calamity and a feast was held by his former master and the rest of the palace knights to celebrate the welcoming of their newest brothers.

Auguinare served his king and country faithfully for two decades, serving on the front lines in battle with his lance and sword, reclaiming seiged cities and castles, even being part of several raiding parties. When he was not fighting for his country, Auguinare was jousting his fellow knights and fighting them in mock calvary battles to keep his skills sharpened. When his father passed, Auguinare was named Duke of Guise and also earned the title of Baron after receiving some property as a reward.

During one border skirmish however, Auguinare's hawk was shot with an arrow and the bird went down somewhere in the woods across the border. The knight finally broke his oath then, in a panic to find the bird. Auguinare abandoned his brother's and broke rank, riding hard and fast into enemy territory. As it was near sunset, Auguinare found the bird still alive and talked softly to it while removing his cloak to swaddle the creature. The hawk gave a shrill screech, which he brushed off as being in pain before being ran through with a blade.
